Emotional Health
January 29, 2024
Hey Clawson Family,
Time to kickoff a new week of devotionals
Song:
Scripture:
Isaiah 61:1-3
Good News for the Oppressed
61 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.[a]
2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come,[b] and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
3 To all who mourn in Israel,[c] he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.
Devotion:
This weekend Pastor Josh preached on the importance of emotional health. Emotional health is about how we think and feel. It is about our sense of wellbeing, our ability to cope with life events and how we acknowledge our own emotions as well as those of others.
As we kick off our next five-days of devotionals let's get ready to be transformed! Your emotional health is important to God. It is His plan that His people walk in freedom from any emotional baggage.
Maybe right now you are walking through a difficult season. You are going through a personal loss, unexpected events, and or maybe it seems like nothing in your life makes sense. Some days, anxiety and panic hit you so hard you feel numb. And in trying to cope or get by, you switch to survival mode rather than thriving mode.
But survival is not God’s plan for you. He wants you to thrive and prosper in all things and be in health. And the first step is to identify what is holding you back from being emotionally well and allow God to correct it.
When you face your these problems head-on, You stake claim to the life and health that God wants for you.
We all struggle with making the right choices regarding our emotional health. It takes courage and faith, but you get to make those powerful choices beginning now!
Prayer:
God, I thank you for wanting me to thrive and not just survive. I set aside every distraction that hinders and weighs me down. You have anointed and set me free! I trust you. I surrender myself into Your hands. Restore me. Take my anxiety, fear, regret, and shame and exchange it for Your joy, beauty, and honor. Amen!
Journal:
Our emotions respond to what we are thinking. How much of your thought life about yourself is consistent with God’s Truth? Write down the wrong beliefs you have in your journal and replace them with God’s truth.
Training:
What emotional doors do you need to shut in order to walk in freedom? What steps will you take this week?
