Peace in the Chaos
June 17, 2025
Hey Clawson Family!
Scripture:
Mark 4:39–40 (NLT)
“Jesus woke up, rebuked the wind… and said to the waves, ‘Silence! Be still!’ Suddenly the wind stopped… Then He asked them, ‘Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?’”
Devotional:
The disciples were in a full-blown storm, panicking while Jesus was sleeping. Isn’t that how we feel sometimes? Like Jesus is silent in our chaos. But here’s the truth: Jesus was there the whole time. He wasn’t distant. He was in the boat. Peace doesn’t come from the absence of storms—it comes from the presence of a Savior.
When storms hit, our instinct is to panic. But God invites us to trust instead. His peace is stronger than our panic. He’s not asking us to pretend everything is fine—He’s asking us to have faith that He is. And when we focus on Him instead of the waves, we find a calm that doesn’t make sense… but holds us steady.
Journal Questions:
What “storms” are you currently facing?
How have you seen Jesus show up for you in past storms?
Challenge:
Each time you feel overwhelmed this week, pause and say: “Jesus is in my boat.”
Prayer:
God, remind me that You haven’t left me in the storm. Help me rest in Your presence and trust You when I can’t see the outcome. You are my peace even when the winds blow. Amen.
