Remember the Why
June 5, 2025
Hey Clawson Family
Scripture:
Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize…”
Devotional:
Sometimes we crash because we forget why we started. David didn’t lose sight of the battle — he lost sight of the purpose behind it. That’s why “keeping the end in mind” is critical. When the goal is fame, comfort, or validation, we end up off-course fast. But when the goal is Jesus — His glory, His presence, His mission — we can endure anything with clarity.
Paul reminds us to press forward — not for applause or approval, but for the prize of knowing Christ. That has to be the goal. If it isn’t, we’ll end up like David in Gath — confused, reacting, and wearing a crown of fear instead of faith.
Journal Questions:
What “end” have I been chasing?
Has Jesus remained my ultimate motivation?
Challenge:
Write down your personal mission statement. In one or two sentences, define your “why” based on your calling in Christ.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me to keep You at the center of my vision. Redirect my focus from the temporary to the eternal. Help me not to chase things that don’t last, but to run after You with all I’ve got.
