Train Your Brain

May 28, 2025

Hey Clawson Family!

Scripture:

“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.”— Philippians 4:8 (NLT)

Devotional:

The direction your mind defaults to is based on how it’s been trained. Negative thoughts, anxiety, and unhealthy patterns are like deeply worn trails—but the good news is, new ones can be created. Your brain is designed to rewire itself. When you begin to intentionally think God’s thoughts and repeat them, you start forming new, healthier pathways.

Think of this like spiritual resistance training. The more you work the muscle of truth and positivity, the stronger your mind becomes. With time and consistency, what once felt unnatural becomes your new normal. Your thoughts can be changed—and when your thoughts change, so does your life.

Journal Questions:

  • What “trail” of thought do I tend to walk most often—fear, doubt, comparison, shame?

  • What kind of mental pathway do I want to start building instead?

Challenge:

Choose one positive thought based on Scripture and repeat it aloud every morning this week. (Ex. “I am God’s masterpiece.”)

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for designing my mind with the ability to change. Help me to train my thoughts on what is good and true. Give me strength to stop walking the old paths and start paving new ones with Your truth. Amen.
