Aim Your Faith
February 26, 2025
Hey Clawson Family!
Song:
Scripture:
Luke 8:48 – “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
Hebrews 12:2 - We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.[a] Because of the joy[b] awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
Devotional:
Imagine an archer taking careful aim at a target. She draws back the bowstring, steadies her focus, and releases the arrow with precision. Her success isn’t random; it’s the result of intention and direction. In our spiritual lives, faith operates in a similar way. If we want to walk boldly in God’s promises, we have to aim our faith in the right direction—toward Jesus.
When Scripture encourages us to “fix our eyes on Jesus,” it’s reminding us to direct our faith intentionally. Faith isn’t vague optimism; it’s a focused trust in God’s character and His Word. Rather than scattering our hopes in all directions or remaining uncertain about what to believe, we choose to lock our eyes on Christ and stand on His promises—even when circumstances look bleak.
Abraham is a powerful example of faith aimed well. Though his situation seemed impossible—a promise of countless descendants while he and his wife were well beyond childbearing years—he kept his focus on the God who made the promise, “fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised” (Romans 4:21). Abraham’s faith shot straight toward God’s Word, never wavering in the face of impossibility.
Likewise, aiming our faith means surrendering our fears, our doubts, and our plans into God’s hands. When we trust Him enough to align our decisions, actions, and hopes with His leading, we discover that we are walking in power, peace, and purpose. Our circumstances may shift, but if our faith remains locked on Christ, we’ll find the strength to stand firm, confident that He is faithful to complete the work He’s begun in us.
The woman with the issue of blood had suffered for twelve years, but she aimed her faith at Jesus. She believed that even touching His robe could heal her. Her faith had direction—it was focused on Jesus, not on her problem. She didn’t just wish for healing; she reached for it.
Where is your faith aimed? Are you focusing on your problem, or are you directing your faith toward Jesus? Align your faith with His power and goodness today.
Journal Questions:
What are the areas in your life where your faith feels scattered or unfocused?
How can you intentionally fix your eyes on Jesus in those specific circumstances?
In what practical ways can you “aim” your faith—through prayer, studying God’s Word, or seeking wise counsel—so that you trust God’s leading wholeheartedly?
Training:
Jesus, I aim my faith toward You. I believe that You are my healer, provider, and Savior. Strengthen my faith as I trust in You. Thank You for reminding me that my faith is more powerful when it’s focused on You. Help me to set my sights on Your promises and align my heart with Your will. In moments of uncertainty, strengthen my trust and keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. May my faith be aimed straight at Your goodness, believing that what You have promised, You will fulfill. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
