All Hands on Deck: A Call to Commitment
January 9, 2025
Hey Clawson Family!
Song:
Scripture:
1 Peter 4:10 (NLT) - “God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
— Matthew 9:37-38
Devotional:
The phrase “All hands on deck” is often used in maritime settings to summon everyone to action during a critical moment. It signifies urgency and the need for every individual to contribute their unique skills and effort to achieve a common goal.
As believers, we live in a world with countless opportunities to reflect Christ’s love, share His gospel, and serve those in need. Jesus reminds us that the harvest—souls ready to receive His message—is abundant, but the workers are few. He doesn’t just call pastors or missionaries; He calls every believer to step up, no matter their role or position in life.
When the call goes out, “All hands on deck,” it’s not about individual accolades or personal agendas. It’s about unity, collective effort, and obedience to the mission. Each person has a role: some plant, some water, but God makes it grow (1 Corinthians 3:6-7).
Maybe your role is prayer, lifting up those on the front lines. Perhaps it’s sharing your testimony, mentoring others, or meeting tangible needs in your community. Whatever it is, your contribution matters. The ship of the Kingdom moves forward when every hand is active and every heart is willing.
God designed the church to function as a team, where everyone’s contributions matter. At Clawson, we believe in the power of unity and teamwork. When all hands are on deck, the load is lighter, and the impact is greater.
This year, ask God how you can use your gifts to serve. Whether it’s through worship, giving, volunteering, or prayer, every role matters. Together, we can accomplish more for God’s Kingdom than we ever could alone.
Journal
In your journal Reflect on the unique gifts God has given you. How can you use them to advance His kingdom? Pray for a heart willing to respond when the call goes out.
Training:
Take one step today to actively participate in God’s work. It could be volunteering, sharing your faith, or encouraging someone in their walk with Christ. Let your “hand on deck” reflect your devotion to Him.
Lord, thank You for inviting us to be part of Your mission. thank You for the gifts You’ve placed in each of us. Show us how to use them for Your glory and to serve others. Unite us as a church family to accomplish Your will in 2025. Help us to hear Your call and respond with eager hearts. Teach us to work together as one body, united in love and purpose. May our hands, hearts, and lives be wholly dedicated to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
