Being Equipped for Spiritual Battles
November 28, 2024
Hey Clawson Family!
Song:
Scripture:
Ephesians 6:10-11
The Whole Armor of God
10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.
Devotional:
Life often feels like a battleground, not just physically or emotionally, but spiritually. In Ephesians 6, Paul reminds us that we’re not fighting battles of flesh and blood, but spiritual forces that seek to weaken our faith and derail our walk with God. Thankfully, God doesn’t leave us defenseless. He equips us with the full armor of God so that we can stand firm against any attack.
The first step in spiritual battle is recognizing the source of our strength. It doesn’t come from our abilities, wisdom, or resources but from the Lord’s mighty power. When we rely on His strength, we’re not fighting alone—we have the Creator of the universe as our Commander.
Paul calls us to "put on" the armor of God. This is an intentional act, not something that happens passively. Each piece of the armor—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—is a gift that equips us to withstand the challenges we face.
Truth protects us from the lies of the enemy.
Righteousness guards our hearts against guilt and condemnation.
Peace keeps us steady in the storms of life.
Faith shields us from doubt and fear.
Salvation reminds us of our ultimate victory in Christ.
The Word of God is our weapon to combat the enemy's attacks.
Taking a Stand
Paul emphasizes standing firm. This means refusing to retreat in the face of adversity and being grounded in the truth of God’s Word. Victory doesn’t always look like immediate success. Sometimes, it’s the quiet determination to trust God in the midst of uncertainty.
Journal:
In your journal answer the following questions:
Are you relying on your strength or God’s power in your spiritual battles?
Which part of the armor of God do you need to "put on" more intentionally today?
How can you use God’s Word to combat the lies of the enemy this week?
Training:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for equipping me with everything I need to stand firm in spiritual battles. Help me rely on Your strength and put on the full armor of God daily. Teach me to stand firm in faith, grounded in Your truth, and ready to face whatever comes my way. Thank You for the victory I already have through Jesus Christ.
In Jesus name Amen.
