Body Battles

February 15, 2024

Hey Clawson Family,

Its going to be a wonderful time! Get your quiet time in!

Song:

Scripture:

1 Corinthians 10:13

13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

2 Corinthians 12:9

9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

Devotion:

The enemy wants us to focus on our weakness and call it failure. He tells us we don’t deserve God’s love, all the while tempting us to give up on our physical health.

But God wants us to have full victory in Him, and He’s given us truth and power to fight this battle. He wants us to have a healthy relationship with our  body and food. God is always with us in the battle, giving us His strength. But, He also calls us to do our part.

Two intentional mind shifts that will help you win your  body battle:

1: “We cannot do what only God can do, and He will not do what we can” ( Oswald Chambers ). Our part includes making healthy choices, renewing our mind with truth and doing our best to flee temptations — which are rarely removed completely because they keep us running to God for the power only He can provide.

2: “Do the right things for the right reasons, and trust God with the results”

The “right things” include nurturing our body since it’s the only vehicle for this life. The “right reasons” are to glorify God and to have energy to live His purpose.

To trust God with the results, We need to stop measuring our success just by size and weight. Focus on things in your control —  healthy choices and the right perspective. Focus on glorifying God and your body will start to move in the right direction! Truly trusting God with the results can take time, but it’s a powerful freedom.

Journal:

How have you felt defeated or frustrated in your journey toward a healthier body? In your journal write down how  you  can switch your focus to action and trust God more with the outcome.

Training:

Be consistent. The enemy wants you to fail, he is placing temptations in your life to trip you up! Don’t let a slip up stop you! Pick yourself up and keep going! Consistency is key to success!
