Building Deep Relationships

January 23, 2025

Hey Clawson Family!

Song:

Scripture:

 James 5:16 (NLT)

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

 Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.

Devotional:

Relationships are central to the Christian walk. God created us for connection—not just with Him, but with one another. Whether in marriage, friendship, or fellowship with believers, deep relationships enrich our lives and bring us closer to God’s design for community.

However, building deep relationships requires intentionality. Surface-level connections are easy; they don’t demand much. But deep relationships require time, vulnerability, trust, and love. Jesus modeled this for us. While He ministered to multitudes, He invested deeply in His disciples, sharing meals, praying together, and living life alongside them.

True connection means being willing to support one another in both joys and struggles. Paul instructs us to "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). Deep relationships are built when we choose to walk with others through life’s ups and downs.

Training:

Practical Steps to Build Deep Relationships:

  1. Be Present: Relationships grow when we prioritize time together. Make space for face-to-face interactions and listen actively when others share.

  2. Pray Together: There’s something powerful about coming before God together in prayer. This deepens not only your connection with God but also with one another.

  3. Serve One Another: Look for ways to show love through action. Whether it’s a helping hand, a word of encouragement, or a small act of kindness, service fosters closeness.

  4. Forgive Freely: No relationship is perfect. Learn to forgive quickly and extend grace, just as God has forgiven you.

Challenge for the Week

Identify one person in your life with whom you want to deepen your relationship. Reach out to them this week—whether it’s sharing a meal, having an honest conversation, or praying together. Take one intentional step to nurture that bond.

Lord, thank You for creating us for relationship. Teach us how to build deep, meaningful connections that reflect Your love. Help us to be present, vulnerable, and forgiving. May our relationships glorify You and draw others to Your heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
