By Faith Not By Sight

September 20, 2024

Hey Clawson Family!

Song:

Scripture:

2 Corinthians 5:6-7

6 So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord. 7 For we live by believing and not by seeing.

Devotional:

Having faith means that we believe what God says even before it happens. If we only believed things that God said after we already saw them happen, it really wouldn’t take that much faith or trust at all because we would already have proof. The point of faith is that we have to trust, believing that God already knows what will happen and has our best interests in mind. Sometimes it can be tempting to lose hope and to not trust in Jesus when we are constantly surrounded by hate and bad things in the world. After a while, we start to feel worn down and tired.

Paul, one of the first pastors, knew how hard it could be to keep trusting God when there is so much brokenness in the world. He encourages us by reminding us that we “live by faith, not by sight while we are on the earth.” Our hope is in Jesus, and while we are on the earth, we have to remind ourselves of the faith we have for the future because of our relationship with Him.

Journal:

Today, reflect on living by faith, not by sight. What does it mean to trust in God even though we can’t see Him? Take a moment to write in your journal to God about verse 7, “we live by faith, not by sight.”

Training:

Father, thank You that You have given me the gift of faith. I pray You increase my faith. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, and give me Your Spirit of understanding, so I may really know You, and walk in faith, not by sight, and see the eternal riches You have stored up for me in Christ. In Jesus Name, amen!
