Capture the Thought
May 27, 2025
Hey Clawson Family!
Scripture:“We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”— 2 Corinthians 10:5b (NLT)
Devotional:
Not every thought that enters your mind deserves a seat at your table. The Bible tells us to capture rebellious thoughts—meaning you have authority over them. Thoughts like "I’ll never be enough" or "This will never change" can feel true, but they aren’t God’s truth. It's not about ignoring these thoughts; it's about interrogating them and replacing them with what God says.
Your thoughts don’t get to lead—you do. And through the power of the Holy Spirit, you have the right to confront every lie, hold it up to Scripture, and toss it out if it doesn’t match God's truth. That’s how you fight back and reclaim peace in your mind.
Journal Questions:
What are some repetitive negative thoughts I need to confront?
What truth from God’s Word do I need to speak over those thoughts?
Challenge:
Write down three toxic thoughts you’ve had this week and then write one truth from Scripture that contradicts each one.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to recognize the lies that try to take root in my mind. Give me the wisdom and strength to take every thought captive and teach it to obey Christ. Let Your truth shape the way I think. Amen.
