Faith Over Feelings
June 11, 2025
Hey Clawson Family!
Scripture:
Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)“For the word of God is alive and powerful… It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”
Devotional:
Feelings are real, but they’re not always reliable. One moment you’re motivated; the next you’re discouraged. One day you feel close to God; the next you question everything. But God’s Word remains the same. When your mind is made up to trust His truth over your emotions, your faith becomes resilient.
Let’s be honest — Scripture will challenge you. It doesn’t always feel good. But faith isn’t about comfort; it’s about commitment. A made-up mind says, “Even when this hurts, I still believe.” God honors that kind of faith — not a feeling-based walk, but a decision-based surrender.
Journal Questions:
What emotions have been controlling my decisions lately?
Are there parts of God’s Word I’ve avoided because they hurt my feelings?
How can I train my heart to follow truth over comfort?
Challenge:
Write down a truth from Scripture that contradicts how you feel today — and speak it out loud. Declare, “This is my truth, even when it doesn’t feel good.”
Prayer:
God, thank You that Your Word is true even when my emotions shift. Help me to build my faith on what You’ve said, not how I feel. Strengthen my heart to follow Your truth above all else. Amen.
