Fathering
June 17, 2024
Hey Clawson Family!
Song:
Scripture:
Ephesians 5:23 New Living Translation
23 For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.
Devotional:
Fathering is one of the biggest challenges that our country has been facing now for years. Not that fathering itself is anymore challenging than mothering, but the fact that fathers are not stepping up and being fathers.
Here are some stats on fathers and fatherless homes and how this is affecting our Families.
64 million men in the US identify as being a father.
26.5 million men are part of a home where they are married to a spouse and have children under the age of 18 living there. So.. Almost 40 million are not.
85% of youth who are currently in prison grew up in a fatherless home.
39% of students in the United States, from the first grade to their senior year of high school, do not have a father at home.
90% of the youth in the United States who decide to run away from home, or become homeless for any reason, originally come from a fatherless home.
72% of Americans believe that a fatherless home is the most significant social and family problem that is facing their country.
This is scary. Especially since the role of the father in the family is to be the spiritual leader of our homes. That definitely can’t happen if fathers are not in the homes.
This is how God set up the family in Ephesians.

Christ is the head over the man, man over the wife, wife over the kids. Dad’s whether you like it or not, it is your job to be the Head of your home. It is not enough just to acknowledge that you are the Head of the home either, you got to live it out.
This week we are going to go through a step by step process if you want to take your job description from Jesus seriously and lead your home the best way you can. I want to give you and become the greatest spiritual leader of your home possible.
Journal:
In your journal today describe your relationship with your father. Whether it is good or bad, what things did you learn from your father that you would like to pass on to the next generation or that you want to avoid!
Training:
Father,
Thank you for the spiritual fathers that you have given us in our lives. For those of us that our fathers help us to step up to that role with courage and passion to lead our families. For those who don't have fathers in their lives give them comfort and understanding that you are the best Father!
In Jesus name, Amen
