Fear is a False Prophet

June 3, 2025

Scripture:

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Devotional:

David, who had once slain a lion, a bear, and a giant, now found himself drooling and scratching on doors like a madman. Why? Because fear got a foothold. Fear doesn’t show up as a full-blown panic attack — sometimes it creeps in through comparison, pressure, or unmet expectations. David wasn’t just afraid of dying — he was afraid of losing what he thought his life should look like.

Fear will lie to you. It will try to prophesy your downfall, scream your worst-case scenario, and convince you that your story is over. But fear is a false prophet. The real truth is that God has given you everything you need to face what’s ahead — power, love, and a sound mind. You don’t have to fake crazy to get through it. You can walk in faith, trusting the One who’s already seen the end.

Journal Questions:

  • Where has fear started to shape the way I think, act, or respond?

  • Am I making decisions out of fear or faith?

Challenge:

Call out one lie that fear has told you this week. Now replace it with a Scripture-based truth and declare it aloud.

Prayer:

God, I reject the spirit of fear. I refuse to let it shape my story. Help me walk in power, love, and a sound mind today. Give me the courage to respond to life with faith, not fear.
