Five Ways to Strengthen Your Faith
March 1, 2025
Hey Clawson Family!
Song:
Scripture:
Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Devotional:
1. Choose the Target – Know what you’re believing God for
Faith begins with clarity.
To strengthen your faith, you must first know what you are believing God for. What is the desire or promise you are holding onto? Is it healing, provision, peace, or guidance? God’s word tells us that “without vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18), so setting a clear target for your faith is essential. When you define your target, you align your prayers, actions, and expectations with what God has promised. Take time to listen for His voice and clarify what you’re trusting Him for, ensuring it aligns with His will. Once you have your target, you can begin to take steps of faith toward it.
2. Believe and Contend – Stand firm in faith even when circumstances challenge you
Faith is not passive. It requires action. When we face challenges, our faith is tested, but it is in these moments that we must stand firm. The Apostle Paul encourages us to “fight the good fight of faith” (1 Timothy 6:12), reminding us that faith is something we must actively hold onto and contend for. When circumstances arise that challenge your faith, refuse to let go of God’s promises. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, not on the distractions around you. Stand firm, trusting that God is faithful and will see you through every trial. The stronger your belief, the more resilient your faith becomes in the face of adversity.
3. Meditate on Scripture – Find and declare God’s promises over your situation
God’s Word is a powerful tool for strengthening your faith. Psalm 119:105 tells us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” By meditating on Scripture, we allow God’s truth to renew our minds and deepen our trust in Him. When we declare God’s promises over our lives, we are reminding ourselves and our circumstances of His power and faithfulness. Whether it’s a promise of provision, healing, or peace, speak God’s Word aloud, believing that it will come to pass. Let His Word transform your heart and mind, strengthening your faith daily.
4. Fast for Clarity – Seek God more deeply through fasting
Fasting is a spiritual discipline that strengthens our connection to God. In moments of uncertainty or confusion, fasting can help clear distractions and bring clarity. In Matthew 17:21, Jesus tells us that certain breakthroughs come only through prayer and fasting. When you fast, you deny your flesh and give more room for the Holy Spirit to speak. Fasting helps you focus on God’s voice and gain insight into His will. It creates space for divine direction and the strengthening of your faith as you press into God’s presence. When we prioritize seeking God through fasting, our trust in His ability to lead us increases.
5. Prophesy Over It – Speak life and truth over your situation
The power of life and death is in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). To strengthen your faith, begin to speak God’s truth over your life and circumstances. Prophesy over the things you’re believing for—whether it’s your health, relationships, finances, or future. God has given you authority to declare His will into your life. Just as God spoke the world into existence (Genesis 1:3), we too can speak life into situations that seem dead or hopeless. Declare His promises over your circumstances with faith, knowing that God’s Word never returns void (Isaiah 55:11).
Conclusion
To strengthen your faith, you must take intentional steps. Choose what you are believing God for, stand firm in belief, meditate on His promises, fast for clarity, and speak life over every situation. As you do, you will see your faith grow, and you will experience the power of God in new and profound ways. Stay rooted in His Word, and trust that He is faithful to fulfill every promise He has made to you.
