Giving

February 22, 2024

Hey Clawson Family,

I'm praying your week is going awesome! Let's get our devotional time in!

Song:

Scripture:

Acts 20:35

And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Devotion:

Have you ever heard someone it’s better to give than to recieve? It sounds crazy, doesn’t it? I mean, who really enjoys giving more than receiving? It’s definitely not a natural response. So we have to ask for God’s perspective on giving.

God  gave His Son to die for us. Through Jesus’ resurrection, we can have eternal life. God does not hold back when He gives. In fact, God gives freely and fully. He expects nothing less of us.

Scripture overwhelming supports this principle of sowing and reaping. When we sow our resources into God’s kingdom, we receive a blessing.

Here are just a few verses that prove this point:

- Proverbs 3:9–10

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine”

- Proverbs 11:24

Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything

- Luke 6:38

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back

Its easy to start believing that what you have is too small to give. But if you wait to give until you think you have enough money, you’ll NEVER become a giver. You will never feel like you have ENOUGH money, so start with what you have now. As you continue to give, you’ll find that you can bump up your giving. The important thing is to start now and make giving a habit in your life.

Giving will set you up to be blessed by God in the future. God wants to see you blessed and giving is one way to plant seeds for blessing in your future.

Journal:

In your journal today write down What keeps you from being more generous. Ask God to show you what it would take to overcome that.

Training:

Evaluate and ask yourself what would a practical step toward giving look like in your life? Begin to take intentional steps to be a better giver. Remember it’s not about the amount, it’s about creating a habit of giving.
