God Wants You to Surrender Everything
November 21, 2024
Hey Clawson Family!
Song:
Scripture:
Philippians 3:7-10 NLT
7 I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.[a] For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. 10 I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,
Devotional:
We live in a world that values achievement, possessions, and status. Yet, in this passage, the Apostle Paul flips the script. He had an impressive résumé—education, heritage, and religious accomplishments—but he declared that all of it was worthless compared to knowing Christ.
Paul's words challenge us to examine what we hold dear. What things in your life compete with God for your attention and devotion? Is it your career? Relationships? Comfort? These aren’t inherently bad, but when they become ultimate, they hinder us from fully surrendering to God.
True surrender means letting go of anything that takes precedence over God. It’s not just giving up bad habits; it’s offering every part of your life—your time, talents, resources, and even your dreams—into His hands.
To surrender means to trust God completely. It means believing that He is enough and that in Him, you will find what truly satisfies. This is not a one-time decision but a daily choice to say, "Lord, I trust You with everything I am and everything I have."
By surrendering everything, we don’t lose; we gain. Like Paul, we find that knowing Christ is worth more than anything else this world can offer. Surrender your everything today and discover the infinite joy of being fully His.
Journal:
Spend time in prayer and ask God to reveal anything you might be clinging to more than Him. In your journal, write them down and surrender them to God.
Training:
Father,
I come before You, acknowledging that sometimes I hold on too tightly to the things of this world. Help me to surrender everything to You—my dreams, my fears, and my plans. Teach me to trust You fully and to value knowing You above all else. May my life reflect that You are my ultimate treasure.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Each day, make a conscious decision to seek Christ above all else. Spend time in His Word, in prayer, and in worship. Let your life reflect that He is your greatest treasure.
