Gratitude in Every Season
December 31, 2024
Hey Clawson Family!
Song:
Scripture:
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Devotional:
Life is full of seasons—some brimming with joy and abundance, others marked by trials and uncertainty. Regardless of the season, God calls us to cultivate gratitude, not because every situation is inherently good, but because He is good and faithful through it all.
In seasons of blessing, gratitude comes easily. When our lives are filled with health, provision, and joy, thanksgiving overflows naturally. These are opportunities to recognize the Giver of every good gift (James 1:17) and offer Him our praise.
In seasons of challenge, gratitude becomes an act of faith. It is here that we trust God’s promise to work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). Gratitude in trials reminds us that God is shaping our character, drawing us closer to Him, and preparing us for greater things.
Even in the mundane moments of life, gratitude grounds us. It transforms ordinary tasks and routines into acts of worship. By thanking God for the seemingly small blessings—a warm meal, a kind word, or the beauty of nature—we become more aware of His presence in every detail.
Gratitude is not about denying our struggles or pretending life is perfect. Instead, it is about seeing God’s hand at work and trusting His plan, even when we don’t understand. As we practice thanksgiving, our hearts become more aligned with His, and we find peace and joy that surpass understanding.
Not every moment of the past year may have been easy, but God’s Word reminds us to give thanks in all circumstances. Reflect on the lessons you’ve learned through trials and the joy found in blessings. Consider how both shaped your faith and character. Spend time in prayer, thanking God for the highs and lows, trusting that He worked all things together for your good.
Journal:
Answer the following questions in journal:
1. In your current season, what can you thank God for today?
2. How can practicing gratitude transform the way you view your circumstances?
3. Is there a challenge in your life where you can begin to trust God’s goodness and offer thanks in faith?
Training:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in every season of my life. Help me to cultivate a heart of gratitude, whether I am in a time of abundance, challenge, or waiting. Open my eyes to see Your blessings, big and small, and to trust in Your unfailing goodness. Teach me to give thanks in all circumstances, knowing that You are with me and working all things for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
