He Has a Plan, Purpose and Future for Your Life

August 29, 2024

Hey Clawson Family!

Song:

Scripture:

Philippians 3:8-9 New Living Translation

8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him.

Matthew 6:19-20 New Living Translation

19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.

We are dual citizens… and sometimes it is a struggle. Citizens of earth that should be focused on our eternal citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Devotional:

God has a plan for your life and your future that is so purposeful that it causes us to care less about the things of this world

In Paul's early life before Jesus he would have been considered someone with everything. He was honored in the church and outside of it. He was educated, a pharisee of pharisees, looked up to by most. He had plenty of earthly possessions.

When Paul realized that Jesus was the savior, he gave up every bit of that to follow Jesus. You know what he lost?. Things that most would  see as valuable on the Earth. He lost his honor in the church. He lost his position. He went from being looked up to, to being looked down upon. He almost lost his life on multiple occasions.

You know what he gained. He gained eternal life through Jesus Christ, but then God's purpose for Paul's life was to extend his forgiveness and his gospel to the gentiles.

As Paul followed the leading of the Holy Spirit for his purpose in life, the people around him were changed. He planted multiple churches. He helped navigate changes to what was important to the church after the gentiles began to follow Jesus. He wrote more than 30% of the new testament. And after he did all that he did, he looked back at his life and said “Everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus”. Everything else is worthless compared to being a citizen of Heaven, and allowing my King to give my life purpose.

I can relate to Paul, I have had some nice vehicles, some awesome guns, nice houses, I did some crazy drugs, I have had money and I have been broke. When I found God’s purpose for my life it completely changed my focus.

What is my purpose you might ask?

My purpose is to train up the church to reach people like you, while I reach people like me. My purpose is to captain a part of the Army that Jesus has here on this earth called Clawson Church. To Battle and fight against legalism and this religious spirit that has hurt so many and killed my savior, and to bring unity to the church of Jesus Christ by bringing pastors and leaders together to focus on the building of the Kingdom of God. God has given me purpose in life, and when I am seeking first the kingdom and working on what Jesus has given me to work on everything else, everything this world could offer me feels meaningless to what Jesus is giving me.

As a citizen of Heaven your King has a purpose for you too. When you begin to work in the purpose He has for you, it will completely change your focus from the Kingdom of Earth, to the Kingdom of Heaven.

You will find your life so fulfilling that what you have lost doesn’t even almost compare with what you have gained. He has a plan for your life, and a plan for your future.

Journal:

In your journal answer the following questions. Where in your life might you need to let go of your plan, trusting in God’s will? How might you help others trust in God’s plan?

Training:

PRAY that the Lord would reveal to you the way He wants you to go, and trust that as you walk through life. God will accomplish His perfect plan in you and through you.

Heavenly Father,

Help me to trust in Your will over my own, knowing that Your plan is infinitely better than mine. Thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who is with us always, and for Your Spirit who dwells within us as we navigate life’s uncertainties.

In Jesus Name, Amen
