How Do I Love My Children?

May 23, 2024

Hey Clawson Family!

 Song:

Scripture:

Matthew 22:36-39 New Living Translation

36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]

Romans 13:8 New Living Translation

Love Fulfills God’s Requirements

8 Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.

Devotional:

How do I show my kids I love them. Heres just a few things:

- Be Present in their lives.

- Be there for things that are important to them. The most important.

- Be patient with them. Remember you were a kid too and needed all the patience.

- Be Consistent, don't say you going to do something and not do it, don’t make promises you know you are not going to keep.

- Give them your time.

- Teach them all the things that will equip them in life.

- Discipline them.

And when they get everything wrong cause they will just like you and I did… forgive them and don’t hold it against them just like our heavenly father did for us.

Love God and love your neighbor. Our spouse and  children are our closest “neighbors”. We need to love them well and teach them to love well.

Journal:

In your journal today write down some ways you  can learn to stay focused on your family today and love them well, so that they can learn to love well

Training:

Father,

Open my eyes to see my children with Your wisdom. Help me to love and teach them well so they will grow as Jesus did.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Be intentional this week! Take inventory of the things that are distracting you from being present in your children’s lives. Take action and give them your time. Forgive them and be patient.
