How Do We Recieve It?

November 7, 2024

Hey Clawson Family!

Song:

Scripture:

Romans 10:9 New Living Translation

9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Matthew 7:17-20 New Living Translation

17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. 19 So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. 20 Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

Devotional:

This is where the rubber meets the road. This is where we have to act to receive the good news that Paul is giving us. Do I believe that Jesus is Lord? Do I believe He was the Son of God who died for my sins and rose from the dead so I could be saved? Am I willing to confess my sin, repent, and give my life to Jesus? Am I willing to obey Christ and his teachings, build a relationship with God, and now allow him to lead my life?

The question is often asked, "How do I know if I’m saved? " The simple answer is: If you believe you are a sinner who needs saving, that Jesus came and died and rose again to save you, and that you are following Christ and His plan for your life, then you can know without a shadow of a doubt that you are saved.

In a world looking for solutions to the brokenness of human sin, the gospel declares that Jesus is the answer.

People say they believe and confess Jesus is Lord and use it as a get-out-of-hell-free card, but they are not willing to obey the word. The term believe in English is more to acknowledge something; in Greek, believe is an action word. Describing that there is action taking place based on what you are acknowledging. A person unwilling to obey the Lord is not born again or saved. A True believer will confess with their mouth Jesus is Lord, and they live that out. We will confess with our actions that Jesus is Lord.

Journal:

In your journal, write down how your life reflects the new life and assurance found in Jesus. Are you sharing the Gospel with others who need hope in Jesus? Write down some ways that you can share and who you can share the Gospel with.

Training:

So today, first, make sure that you have made a personal decision to follow Jesus. Next, believe that His sacrifice on the cross was sufficient payment for your sin. Then, make sure that the people you come into contact with know that too. There are people all around you who might not know that Jesus paid the price, so they don’t have to spend eternity separated from Him.
