The Exhaustion of Indecision

June 9, 2025

Hey Clawson Family!

Scripture:

James 1:6–8 (NLT)

“But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea…”

Devotional:

Have you ever felt emotionally drained just trying to make one simple decision? Whether it’s what to eat for dinner or how to handle a difficult conversation, indecision pulls at your peace like crashing waves on an unstable boat. James tells us that an undecided mind results in instability in every area. Life feels like a storm, not because of the external conditions, but because of the inner conflict.

The same is true in your walk with Christ. Indecision keeps you stuck — not because God hasn’t moved, but because you haven’t. When your faith wavers between trusting God and trusting yourself or the world, everything feels shaky. But when you make up your mind to trust Him fully, you’re no longer tossed around — you’re anchored.

Journal Questions:

  1. What decision have I been putting off that’s keeping me unsettled?

  2. How has my indecision affected my peace or progress?

  3. In what areas have I said I trust God but haven’t fully surrendered?

Challenge:

Choose one area today where you’ve been double-minded. Write it down and declare, “I’ve made up my mind to trust God fully here.”

Prayer:

Lord, reveal the areas where I’ve allowed indecision to steal my strength. Give me the courage and clarity to make up my mind to follow You without hesitation. I trust You with my future. Amen.
