It's Time to Start

Hey Clawson Family,
Song:
Scripture:
Acts 2: 14-21
Peter Preaches to the Crowd
14 Then Peter stepped forward with the eleven other apostles and shouted to the crowd, “Listen carefully, all of you, fellow Jews and residents of Jerusalem! Make no mistake about this. 15 These people are not drunk, as some of you are assuming. Nine o’clock in the morning is much too early for that. 16 No, what you see was predicted long ago by the prophet Joel:
17 ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions,
and your old men will dream dreams.
18 In those days I will pour out my Spirit
even on my servants—men and women alike—
and they will prophesy. 19 And I will cause wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below— blood and fire and clouds of smoke. 20 The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and glorious day of the Lord arrives. 21But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
Mark 16:15-16
15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.
Devotion:
When it comes to piercing the darkness, evangelizing to those that need to hear about Jesus, you may be asking, “So how do I get started? I know that I am called by God to live boldly and to shine brightly, but I don’t know how.”
Let’s dig into that because information without application doesn’t do anyone any good.
If you are motivated and ready to share Jesus with others where should you start?
1. Ask God to bring you opportunities and give you great discernment. Put this on your prayer list. Ask God to give you opportunities to share Jesus with others. Praying this way keeps it at the front of your mind, and it also invites God to divinely lead you to people who need an introduction to Jesus.
2. Keep your eyes open. Every day you cross paths with people who need a smile, an encouraging word, or a kind gesture. Train yourself to offer what you can in that regard, always looking for the people whose responses indicate they are open to a conversation.
3. Ask questions. People who dominate conversations are not as good at personal evangelism as those who ask great questions. When you listen to someone’s story you have the opportunity to share Jesus in a very targeted and meaningful way. When you are responding to information someone just shared with you, it feels more personal, more kind, and it will always be more effective.
4. Be intentional. Look for opportunities to encourage people, to discover what their concerns were, and what their life was like. The more you do that, the better you become at it.
Journal:
In your journal today rate yourself between the numbers of 1 through 10 on your love for people without Christ. Write down how you what made you choose that number. Do you actions reflect that number?
Training:
It’s time for applications. Begin to apply the 4 things we learned in our devotional today. Ask for opportunities and discernment, look for open doors, ask questions, and be intentional. Ask yourself the question What are some ways I can get more involved in the lives of people who are far from Christ?
