Pressing Forward With Purpose

June 13, 2025

Hey Clawson Family!

Scripture:

Philippians 3:13–14 (NLT)“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal…”

Devotional:

The past can be a heavy weight when your mind isn’t made up. Regret, shame, and old patterns will try to pull you backward. But Paul reminds us that forward movement requires a forward mindset. You can’t press toward the goal if you’re still wavering about your direction.

A made-up mind says, “I’m not turning back.” It doesn’t mean you’re perfect, but it does mean you’re planted. Forgetting what’s behind doesn’t mean you erase your story — it means you refuse to let it determine your future. Decide today that you’re moving forward, no matter what.

Journal Questions:

  1. What past mistake or failure keeps trying to pull me back?

  2. What decision do I need to make today to press forward in my walk with Jesus?

  3. What does the “goal” look like in this season of my life?

Challenge:

Write down one area where you’ve been stuck in the past — and then declare, “Today I press forward.”

Prayer:

Father, I release the weight of what’s behind me. I fix my eyes on You and the future You have for me. Help me to stay focused, faithful, and full of resolve. My mind is made up. Amen.
