Repent to God, Confess to people

January 18, 2024

Clawson Family,

It is going to be a wonderful day today, listen to this song and watch how God uses it to minister to you this morning.

Song:

Real quick I want us to talk about the importance of repenting to God, and confessing to people. first lets dive into some scripture.

Scripture:

Romans 10:9-10 New Living Translation

9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

Luke 5:27-32 New Living Translation

Jesus Calls Levi (Matthew)

27 Later, as Jesus left the town, he saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at his tax collector’s booth. “Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. 28 So Levi got up, left everything, and followed him.

29 Later, Levi held a banquet in his home with Jesus as the guest of honor. Many of Levi’s fellow tax collectors and other guests also ate with them. 30 But the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law complained bitterly to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with such scum?[a]”

31 Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. 32 I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”

James 5:16-18 New Living Translation

16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. 17 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! 18 Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

Journal:

As you can see in these sciptures we can see in our prayers we should have a continuation of repentance and confession in our lives. Confessing is acknowleding our wrongdoing, and repentance is a change of mind and action. I turn away from Sin becuase of the change in my mind. When we confess to God and repent and turn away from our sin there is blessing in that. Some peope never take it the next step further and confess to others. This does not mean you need to go tell your business to everyone. What it means it that you need a safe person or people where you can confess to them where you are struggling and they can help you to move forward. My wife is who I confess the toughest things in my life to. Mostly cause I don't feel like I can trust anyone but her with that. But this scripture in James tells us to confess to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. Sometimes that healing takes place at the moment you confess, other times it takes time and accoutability. But both of these things are important in your life. In your journal this morning I want to encourage you to write what God is dealing with in your heart. Are there things that you need to confess to God and repent of? And who is a safe person to confess to?

Training:

Your training from this is if God has revealed an area or areas in your life that you need to confess of and repent to him from, then do that right now. If you need to confess something to another person I want you to get the courage to do that this week and allow them to help you move forward.
