Rest Isn’t Laziness—It’s Stewardship

March 14, 2025

Hey Clawson family!

Song:

Scripture:

Exodus 20:8-10 (NIV) – “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God.”

Psalm 127:2 (NIV) – “In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves.”

Devotion:

Rest is not a sign of weakness; it is an act of trust. When we refuse to rest, we live as if everything depends on us rather than on God. God Himself modeled rest when He created the world, and He commands us to do the same.

Application:

• Identify areas where you are overworking yourself and need to incorporate more rest.

• Set a boundary for rest today—whether that means going to bed earlier, taking a break, or setting aside time to be still before the Lord.

Journal Questions:

1. Do I see rest as an act of stewardship or as laziness?

2. How can I build better rest habits into my life?

3. What is one thing I need to release to God so that I can rest well?

Challenge:

Go to bed 30 minutes earlier tonight or take a break during your day to pause and be still before God.
