Spirit-Led Relationships

November 27, 2024

Hey Clawson Family!

Song:

Scripture:

Ephesians 5:8-9 (NLT)

8 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! 9 For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

Devotional:

Relationships are at the heart of God’s design for humanity. Whether within friendships, family, or marriage, the way we relate to others reflects the condition of our spiritual lives. Ephesians 5:8-9 reminds us that we were once in darkness, driven by selfish motives and worldly desires, but now we walk in the light of Christ. This transformation calls us to engage in Spirit-led relationships, where God’s light governs how we treat one another.

To be Spirit-led in our relationships means that our interactions are guided by the Holy Spirit, producing what Paul describes as "good and right and true." Let’s explore these qualities in the context of our relationships:

  1. Goodness

Spirit-led relationships prioritize goodness, which means seeking the well-being of others. It’s an active pursuit of kindness, generosity, and sacrificial love. When we are Spirit-led, we reject gossip, manipulation, or selfishness and instead encourage, uplift, and support one another.

  1. Righteousness

Righteousness calls us to act with integrity and fairness in our relationships. We don’t manipulate, deceive, or use others for personal gain. Instead, we honor boundaries, practice accountability, and treat others as bearers of God’s image.

  1. Truth

The Spirit of God leads us into truth. This means our relationships are grounded in honesty and transparency. We avoid pretenses and embrace authenticity, even when it's uncomfortable. Speaking the truth in love strengthens trust and builds deeper, Christ-centered connections.

Journal:

In your journal answer the following questions:

  • Are my actions in my relationships reflecting goodness, righteousness, and truth?

  • How can I allow the Holy Spirit to guide my interactions with others?

  • Are there areas in my relationships where I still act out of darkness rather than light?

Training:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for calling us out of darkness and into Your marvelous light. Help me to live as a person of light, producing what is good, right, and true in my relationships. Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts, words, and actions so they reflect Your love. Teach me to walk in Your light, bringing peace and grace into every relationship in my life.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
