Devotional:

Did you know that Jesus had a favorite subject? It wasn’t angels, the law, or the supernatural. Jesus loved to talk about His home. He called it the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven. It was the home of His Father.

Jesus taught us one specific prayer during His earthly life that ultimately demonstrates the importance of the Kingdom of God: The Lord’s Prayer. 

It’s an amazing prayer. Jesus says, “Dear Heavenly Father, who lives in heaven, You are so awesome. Please overthrow the leadership of this world with Your leadership.” This prayer is radical and revolutionary because He wants the Kingdom of God to take over the kingdom of this world.

We have a group of 18 in Cuba right now. I have been on a mission trip before, and as excited as I was to be there to serve, it's just not home. I missed home. The culture is so different, the food is different, and I miss the “normal” way of life a little.

Have you ever left your native city or country? What did you miss?

Jesus missed heaven, and He wanted to bring heaven to Earth. So He healed bodies, fed the hungry, and loved people. Jesus brought heaven to Earth, and so can you.

I encourage you to jump on the new growth track. We will be studying the kingdom this week. Can you imagine bringing the Kingdom of God to our broken world? Now, that’s real growth.

Jesus believes in you and the church. He wants you to be an ambassador for heaven and to bring the culture of heaven to Earth in big and small ways.
