Unforgiveness against God

May 6, 2024

Hey Clawson Family!

Song:

Scripture:

Romans 8:28 New Living Translation

28 And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Devotional:

Has something ever happened in your life that you didn’t agree with? Have you ever had the thought… God you could have stopped that!  God why would you allow that to happen? If we are honest we have all had those thoughts at times.

Sometimes we struggle with having bitterness or unforgiveness towards God. Why?

1. Because people who have called themselves Christians represent God like someone that he is not.

2. We blame God for things that He didn't do

We serve an all powerful God! He has to power to fix anything that is wrong in our lives! So its easy to be angry when we don’t think he is! Unfortunately we live in a fallen world and things happen in our life that don't have anything to do with God. We may have done it to ourselves, or it may be a consequence to our actions.

Or it may even be a Job experience in the bible where Satan takes away things in our lives, and is allowed to do things in our lives… and we blame God because really He could have stopped it and He didn’t.

He had the power to stop it, but He didn’t. We blame him for it.

3. We disagree with His plans, His will, and what He allows

We prayed for something and God didn’t give us what we asked for. Prayed for God to provide in an area that He didn’t provide like we thought he should, prayed for a person to be healed and they were not healed. We lost someone close to us and now we struggle with the fact that if God loves me and he could have stopped it, why would He allow that to happen.

This happened to Jesus. He prayed Father let this cup pass from me. Jesus begged for another way. Let this cup pass from me, but not my will but your will be done.

If we are not careful we  can create some bitterness in our hearts towards God when we don’t release our will for His. Listen I want to give you some encouragement.

Bad things happen, and they happen to bad people, good people, Followers of Christ and to those that are not, but if we can be like Jesus and accept God’s will… He can and will take the things that happen in our lives and do something beautiful with them.

Journal:

In your journal today If you’ve been holding on to unforgiveness against God, write down how you can let go of that hurt and choose to trust Him instead.

Training:

Father,

Thank You that You’re always at work, even in seasons of waiting. Free us from any unforgiveness we’ve held against You. Help us to trust Your plan for our lives and believe that You are good.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Read 1 Samuel 1:9-10.

Hannah didn’t hold anything back when she prayed to God. Today the challenge is to be like Hannah. Take everything to God in prayer! Communicate with him! Let him know your feelings.
