We Are Family

January 7, 2025

Hey Clawson Family!

Song:

Scripture:

Romans 12:5 (NLT) - “So it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”

Devotional:

God has designed us to live in community, to thrive as a family—not just in our biological homes but in His spiritual household. The idea of family extends far beyond shared DNA. In Christ, we are adopted into God’s family, connected by something stronger than blood—the love and sacrifice of Jesus.

As members of this family, we are called to share in one another’s joys and burdens, to encourage and build one another up, and to grow together in faith. Paul reminds us in Romans 12:5 that we are all part of one body. Each of us has a unique role and function, but we are connected and dependent on one another to thrive.

In a world that often emphasizes individualism, God invites us to embrace unity. Being part of His family means we don’t face life alone. We have brothers and sisters to lean on, pray with, and serve alongside. Whether it’s through worship, service, or simple acts of kindness, we reflect God’s heart when we treat one another as family.

Being part of God’s family is both a privilege and a responsibility. Let’s embrace our roles as brothers and sisters in Christ, living in harmony and reflecting His love to the world. Together, we are stronger, united by His Spirit, and commissioned to make His name known.

At Clawson, family is more than a value—it’s our identity. As the body of Christ, we belong to one another. When one rejoices, we all rejoice; when one suffers, we all bear the burden together. This year, commit to building deeper connections. Find your people. Small groups and church events are opportunities to strengthen relationships that encourage and grow us.

Family isn’t always easy—it takes intentionality and grace. But a healthy family culture reflects God’s love and attracts others to His Kingdom. Let’s create a space where everyone feels at home.

Journal:

Take a moment to thank God for the people He has placed in your life. In your journal, reflect on how you can strengthen your relationships with both your spiritual and biological family.

Training:

Application Steps:

  1. Bear One Another’s Burdens: Look for ways to support someone in need this week. A listening ear, a prayer, or a small act of service can remind someone they are not alone.

  2. Practice Forgiveness: Family isn’t perfect, but love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). Is there someone you need to forgive or reconcile with? Seek God’s grace to restore those relationships.

  3. Be Inclusive: God’s family is open to everyone. How can you extend the love of Christ to someone who feels like an outsider?

Heavenly Father, thank You for adopting us into Your family through Jesus. Thank You for making us part of Your family. Help us to love one another deeply, just as You love us. Show us how to strengthen our church family and welcome others in. Teach us to walk in unity and to honor the connections You’ve given us. Let our lives reflect Your grace and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
