What You Focus On, You Magnify
May 19, 2025
Hey Clawson Family!
Scripture:
Psalm 34:3 (KJV)
“O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.”
Devotional:
We often underestimate the power of our focus. When we zero in on a problem, a fear, or a disappointment, it begins to dominate our thoughts and emotions. Like a magnifying glass, our focus enlarges whatever it is directed toward. But here’s the good news—what we magnify is a choice. Scripture invites us to magnify the Lord, not because He changes size, but because we need to bring Him into clearer focus.
Peter was walking on water—doing the impossible—until he shifted his focus from Jesus to the wind. As soon as fear became his frame, he started to sink. In our lives, if we focus on fear, failure, or pain, it will consume us. But if we shift our frame to magnify God—His faithfulness, His power, His promises—we begin to walk in victory even when the waves are still crashing.
Journal Questions:
What have I been unintentionally magnifying in this season?
How has it affected my emotions, thoughts, and decisions?
Challenge:
Every time you feel overwhelmed today, stop and say out loud, “I choose to magnify the Lord,” then list three things He’s done for you.
Prayer:
Father, help me to shift my focus today. Teach me to magnify You above my circumstances. I want to see You more clearly and trust You more deeply. Refocus my eyes and reframe my day with Your truth.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
