Your Purpose Is for Today
February 4, 2025
Hey Clawson family!
Song:
Scripture:
Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)
“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Acts 13:36 (NIV)
“Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep.”
Devotional:
Many people spend their lives searching for purpose as if it’s something far off in the future, waiting to be discovered. But God has given you a purpose for today. Every breath you take is an opportunity to glorify Him, love others, and walk in obedience.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of believing that our purpose is only tied to big moments—achievements, promotions, or major life changes. While those things are significant, God also works through the ordinary. Your interactions, kindness, prayers, and even the small tasks you complete faithfully all play a role in His greater plan.
Think of Jesus—though His ultimate mission was the cross, His daily purpose involved teaching, healing, serving, and simply being present with those around Him. Your purpose is not just a destination; it’s the journey of faithfulness in every moment.
Instead of waiting for a “big” calling, ask God how He wants to use you today. Who can you encourage? How can you show His love in the small things? When you embrace today with purpose, you live fully in His plan.
David served God’s purpose in his generation. He didn’t wait for a perfect moment—he lived in purpose daily. Sometimes, we get so caught up in searching for “the big calling” that we miss God’s purpose for today.
What if your purpose is found in being faithful where you are right now? Serving, loving, and glorifying God in your daily life? Don’t wait for the future to fulfill your purpose—step into it today.
Journal:
Answer the following questions in your journal
• In what ways can you serve God and others in your current situation?
• Are you waiting for a future purpose instead of embracing God’s purpose for today?
• How can you shift your mindset to see every day as part of God’s plan for your life?
Training:
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me a purpose for today. help me to live in my purpose today. Open my eyes to the ways I can serve You and others right now. I trust that as I follow You each day, You will lead me into my greater purpose. Help me to embrace every moment as an opportunity to glorify You. Open my eyes to the ways I can serve, love, and reflect Your light in my daily life. I trust that You are working through me, even in the small things. In Jesus’ name, Amen
