Your Words Matter
March 24, 2025
Hey Clawson family!
Song:
Scripture:
Matthew 12:36-37 (NLT)
“And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”
Devotional:
Jesus doesn’t mince words—what we say matters. Every careless phrase, every flippant comment, every word spoken in anger or sarcasm is noticed.
That’s not to scare us, but to awaken us. Our words carry weight, and they either build the Kingdom or tear it down. Stewarding our mouths is about more than good manners—it’s about surrendering our speech to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to shape our language with grace, truth, and love.
Journal Questions:
• When was the last time your words helped someone?
• When was the last time they hurt someone?
• What kind of words do you want to be remembered for?
Challenge:
Spend the next 24 hours being consciously aware of every word you speak. Before you say something, ask: Is this helpful? Is this holy?
Prayer:
Lord, I want my words to reflect Your heart. Help me take every careless word captive and replace it with speech that gives life. Teach me to pause, listen, and speak with intention. Amen.
