Go to God, And Don't Stop!

May 14, 2024

Hey Clawson Family!

Song:

Scripture:

Luke 18:1-8 New Living Translation

18 One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. 2 “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. 3 A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ 4 The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, 5 but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

6 Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. 7 Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man[a] returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”

Devotional:

One of the things that we can learn from  Hannah’s story is persistence. She goes to God, and she goes to God and she pours out her heart to God because she wants so badly to be a mother. She does not stop! She kept pleading with the Lord so much so that she caught the attention of the priest. He then joins her in prayer and she is blessed with what she is praying for.

Go to God,  and don’t stop!! Do it again. And again and again. I have heard people say once you pray something you should not pray it again or you are showing a lack of faith. If Hannah would have stopped praying she would not have gotten God's attention. It said when her husband went to sleep with her, God remembered those prayers.

Go to God and don’t stop until you have received what you are asking for.

Maybe you have been praying for God to give you a child, go to God, and don't stop. Don’t give up!

In any struggle or desperation we are facing go to God, and DON'T STOP.  We need to put that into practice for the rest of our lives. Go to God and Don’t stop.

If your loved ones are away from the Lord and not serving him… Go to God and don’t stop! Because there is power in your prayer life!

Go to God on behalf of your children's future and calling, go to God on who their spouse is supposed to be, Go to God on their Salvation, on their health, their friends, their Job …. Whatever struggles and trials they are facing and you are facing Go to God and Don’t stop.

Journal:

In your journal write down one thing you wish you were taught about prayer as a child. How might you be able to teach that one thing to your children or the children in your life?

Training:

Father

I cry out like Hannah today. Help me to have the same persistence! When I don’t see any progress from my prayers, help me remember that You are always working behind the scenes in ways that I may never know this side of heaven.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer is an extraordinary, powerful force. So let’s not give up! Keep praying. God is always working. I believe some of our most magnificent moments with God will happen when, in His perfect timing, we get to see the connection between our prayers and His answers.
