The Truth will Set You Free

March 29, 2024

Hey Clawson Family!

John 8:31-32 NLT

31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

This entire week of devotions has come down to this: How do I make sure I am not following false teachings? How do I make sure what I believe is accurate? And I am not following something counterfeit? I want to give you four very quick recommendations.

1. Don’t look for what you want, look for the truth.

2. Learn the word—Pastor Josh said that when he got saved, he threw away what he believed in the trash to start over. Decide what you believe based on what you read for yourself in the word, not what others have told you the scriptures mean.

3. Test everything - Everything you listen to, every preacher, every thought you have, test it all with the word.

4. Know the truth and the truth will set you free

Truth is one reason the Church is not working as it should. People don’t know the truth, and so they don't live in freedom. Be careful because false prophets and teachers are trying to stop the church from working in your life and the lives of those around you. Learn the truth, live in freedom, share the truth, and help others get freedom. If we do this, we can make the church work like it should!

God’s Word can bring hope and encouragement to so many people! In your journal today, write about a time when you found hope by reading Scripture. What was that experience like for you and your relationship with God?

Father God, Your Word is powerful and eternal. Please help us understand the impact Scripture has on our lives. We’re excited to share Your truth and grace with those around us. Show us

where You want us to take Your Word next. In Jesus’ name,

How can you take the Word to the world this week? Maybe you share it on social media,

talk about it with a coworker, or invite your family to do a bible plan with you.
