🙏 VISION & VALUES OF ALTAR MINISTRY
“Where Heaven Touches Earth” ✨
Hey there! 👋Welcome to this session of Clawson Church’s Altar Ministry Training — Vision & Values of Altar Ministry.
This session unpacks the heart behind what we do at the altar — how we carry God’s presence, our posture, and our part in facilitating the move of the Holy Spirit.
The altar isn’t just a moment; it’s a meeting place between heaven and earth. 🌎🔥
🎯 OUR VISION
Our vision as an altar team is simple: To help facilitate the move of God in our church family — helping people discover God, connect into His family, develop as His followers, and expand His Kingdom. 🙌
We are not counselors. We are not fixers. We are not performers. We are servants of the Most High God — standing in the gap as intercessors, encouragers, and truth-tellers when people need Him most.
💬 Remember: Every altar moment is sacred. Every prayer, conversation, and tear is an opportunity for someone to encounter Jesus in a real, personal way. ❤️
💎 KEY VALUES WE CARRY
1️⃣ The Spirit Takes the Lead
We don’t move by hype or pressure — we move by the leading of the Holy Spirit. If He nudges you to speak, pray, or wait — obey.
💡 Don’t be weird — but do be bold. Deliver every word with humility and grace. Never rush or manufacture a moment. Create space for God to move. 🕊️
2️⃣ We Have Mountain-Moving Faith
We pray like we believe God can do it — because He can. 🙌No safe prayers — we pray faith-filled ones.
Even if the person in front of you is struggling to believe, your faith can lift them. Sometimes your boldness is the spark that releases their breakthrough. 🔥
💬 Be the one who believes for them when they can’t believe for themselves.
3️⃣ Free People, Free People
You’ve been set free — now you carry the authority to help others step into freedom too. 🔓Your story matters. Your prayers matter. Your faith matters.
📝 Always use an Altar Ministry Testimony Card when someone experiences salvation, healing, or breakthrough. It’s not about record-keeping — it’s about shepherding. Follow-up helps move people from a moment to a journey. 🌿
❤️ HEART POSTURE OF AN ALTAR MINISTER
It’s not just about what you do — it’s about how you carry yourself. The altar isn’t a stage — it’s sacred ground.
🙇 Stay Humble
Approach every moment with gratitude:
“God, thank You for trusting me to serve this person right now.”
You’re not the healer — Jesus is. Pray from compassion, not superiority. You’re there to serve, not to shine. ✨
🤝 Respect & Protect People
People who come forward are often vulnerable — honor their courage. Don’t force a breakthrough or share personal opinions. If someone’s already being prayed for, wait. Let God finish what He’s doing. 💭
💬 Speak Life
Your words have power! Don’t speak shame or fear — speak hope, healing, and identity.
🗣️ Instead of saying:
“You need to stop doubting,” Say: “God is strengthening your faith today.”
🔒 Confidentiality Matters
If someone shares something personal, protect their trust. Don’t repeat it as a “prayer request.” If it’s a safety issue (self-harm, abuse, danger), stay with them and immediately signal a pastor or Altar Captain. 🚨
We protect privacy, but we always prioritize safety.
✋ Ask Permission for Everything
Honor people’s boundaries. Always ask before:✔️ Laying on hands✔️ Using oil✔️ Praying out loud if they seem hesitant
“Would it be okay if I place my hand on your shoulder as I pray?” That question creates safety and shows love before a word is spoken. ❤️
🙌 Be Yourself
You don’t need to sound like anyone else. God moves through you. Be authentic. Be real. Be available.
🌟 FINAL ENCOURAGEMENT
When you step into altar ministry, you step onto holy ground. It’s not about perfection — it’s about presence. It’s not about performance — it’s about partnership with the Holy Spirit.
God doesn’t need polished professionals; He moves through surrendered hearts. 💖
So show up ready. Stay grounded in love. Be sensitive to His Spirit. And trust that what you carry — the Spirit of God inside you — is more than enough to change lives.
