The Antidote to Bitterness

April 19, 2024

Hey Clawson Family!!

Song:

Scripture:

Ephesians 4:21-32

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Devotional

How do we get out of this cage of bitterness and walk in freedom?

If we want freedom from our bitterness here's what we have to do:

  1. We have to go back to the place of offense

  2. Face the offense

  3. Uproot the bitterness that we have allowed in our live

  4. Lay it down.

We make the decision that we are not giving the enemy a foothold in our lives. As we lay down the offense, the bitterness, the hurt, we begin to heal and prepare our hearts to forgive completely.

In order to have healthy relationships, we have to learn to lay down offense. A spouse will offend or hurt us, a friend will offend,  Pastors will probably offend and the only way we can walk into the future with any person is to learn to uproot bitterness and lay down offenses.

Journal

Are you currently holding on to an offense? In your journal, write down how you can make a conscious effort to let that offense go.

Training

Pray and consider whether there are any offenses you need to let go of.
